Second Harvest Food Bank

July 31, 2020 UPDATE:

It's time to begin bringing back volunteers! With GIVEPULSE to help manage our volunteers, it will be even easier to communicate, sign-up, record hours, etc. This will also help us with feedback and give you a place to write how you felt about the impact you made or the experience you had!

We greatly appreciate all the hard work and help the National Guard and crews of EMA volunteers in our eight county service area have provided! In August, our Guard will be stationed with us a bit longer as we transition back to community volunteers to keep the Tailgates moving smoothly. We are expecting to have 25 Tailgates in the month of August, and we need your help!

Please ask everyone who is a member of a church, civic organization, club, etc. if they are interested in committing their group to doing one or more Tailgates a month in their county. I know we can do this if we put our hearts into it.

The current situation isn't going to be resolved overnight and we'll need community support to ensure those who are facing uncertainty have access to resources that are available

If you are an individual who would like to volunteer, please register and let our Volunteer Coordinator know what your availability is. She will contact you with opportunities as they arise.

One huge question is, how are we going to keep folks safe?
  • We will continue to follow the guidelines of our local, state and national health agencies.
  • All volunteers will need to acknowledge that they have read and understand the new waiver to register and volunteers will not be able to volunteer without registering here on GIVEPULSE and being scheduled.
  • We will only allow the absolute maximum of volunteers needed at each Tailgate or on site.
  • All volunteers will have to wear masks, sanitize hands, wear gloves, practice social distancing, and answer screening questions before sign in, every time they volunteer.
Please look below through our "events" for opportunities near you or at our facility. Click the one that you are interested in and register for that event. To help with social distancing, we will only allow for the maximum number of volunteers for a successful distribution or task.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator for further assistance.

If you are interested in volunteering on-site in our warehouse or office area, look for dates beginning in September. In order to keep our staff, Guard and those we serve safe, we have decided to push in-house volunteer opportunities back.
