Birth to Five

Who We Are Birth to Five currently offers three major programs: Parents as Teachers, Healthy Families, Supporting Care Providers.Goals of the Parents as Teachers program: increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, prevent child abuse and neglect, and increase children's school readiness and school success.Goals of Healthy Families program: promote positive parenting, enhance child health and development, and prevent child abuse and neglect.Goals of Supporting Care Providers program: give child care providers research based information in a way that is supportive and educational, and provide a structure for care providers to pass on that knowledge to the parents of the children in their care.These programs include four componentsPersonalized VisitsDevelopmental & Health ScreeningsGroup MeetingsCommunity Resource Referrals/NetworkingIn addition, Birth-to-Five also,Received a grant from the Wayne County Foundation for staff members to become certified in a program entitled
