Living Lively is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit working to end loneliness and improve quality of life for older adults by providing personalized in home social interaction to isolated individuals in Northwest Arkansas. Volunteers are matched with an elder companion based upon personalities and interests. Volunteers visit their elder companion's home with activities such as cards, games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and much more based upon the shared interests of the volunteer and elder participant. Activities are not limited to examples provided by Living Lively. We make every effort to individualize our participants’ experiences and connect them with the activities they love. While other organizations in the area do wonderful work providing help with daily activities, chores, and transportation for seniors aging in home, Living Lively seeks to specifically address social interaction for aging adults with limited out of home mobility. Loneliness is tied to serious emotional and physical health issues. Studies show socially isolated aging adults have a higher risk of depression, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and early death.
