TreePeople revitalizes inner-city communities, brings neighbors together and offers effective solutions to urban ecosystem problems. Originally started by teenagers in the early 1970's, TreePeople's staff and volunteers have gone on to plant over two million trees in the L.A. area.
Tree plantings take place on city streets and parks, school campuses and the mountains surrounding Los Angeles. Most events occur on weekends. Other volunteer opportunities include tree care on campuses and city streets, and helping in the seedling nursery at TreePeople's headquarters in Coldwater Canyon Park.
Mission: To inspire the people of Los Angeles to take personal responsibility for the urban forest-- educating, training and supporting them as they plant and care for trees and improve the neighborhoods in which they live, work and play.
