Lighthouse is a non-profit, drop-in, after-school program for youth in grades 6-12, promoting their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Lighthouse offers mentoring, tutoring, recreational activities, and educational workshops as well as a home cooked meal. Light house is a safe, supervised, and structured environment. While at Lighthouse, you'll have the opportunity to: be a positive role model, assist with programming, tutor and participate in educational groups, serve dinner and afternoon snacks, monitor academics, train in food preparation, go on field trips, and garden. Times available are from Monday until Friday, from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lighthouse is in walking distance of campus. This is an excellent opportunity for education and social psychology majors! Many volunteers at the Lighthouse are required to make a semester-long commitment, but there are one-time and short-term commitments available, as well. A regular schedule will be set based on your availability. A one hour orientation is also required, and it should be scheduled at least one month prior to starting. Background checks are required.
