University Service Day

About

                      St. John's University's
           22nd Annual University Service Day!
               Saturday, September 23, 2023

What is University Service Day?

On this day, the St. John’s University family joins together (virtually) to serve our communities locally, nationally & globally. Previous volunteers have served the hungry in soup kitchens, visited residents at nursing homes, engaged in fun activities with disadvantaged children, cleaned and landscaped area parks, painted rooms in nearby schools and community centers, and provided assistance with so many other important projects. Working together in generosity and love as a Vincentian Family, we show exactly “What a difference a day makes!”

Why Saturday, September 23?

Every year, University Service Day is held on the Saturday closest to the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul, whose compassion and zeal for service continues to inspire so many to work towards social justice and the reduction of poverty. This special day is part of St. John’s University’s Founder’s Week, a series of events and programs dedicated to deepening our knowledge and understanding of our Vincentian heritage.
