Core Programs and Activities
Year-Round Adaptive Sports (YRS)
Year Round league sports programs are offered to people of all ages and include wheelchair basketball, soccer and rugby.
Originally just one team, the program has quickly grown to include multiple competitive and recreational levels, including:
Futures Team (young children 4-9 years old)Prep Team (youth)Junior Varsity Team (youth)Varsity Team (youth)Division III Team (adults)Skills Development Team (youth and adults)Indoor Wheelchair Soccer (adults)Quad Rugby (youth)
Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp
Children, ages 4-18, attend a five-day adaptive sports camp. Campers have the opportunity to grow physically, mentally and socially as they learn the fundamentals of a number of adaptive sports. Sports include wheelchair basketball, tennis, archery, swimming, rugby, soccer, lacrosse, handcycling, sailing, water tubing, outrigger canoeing, kayaking and more. The camps goal is to help establish the building blocks of an active life through the introduction of adaptive sports and recreation.
Injured Servicemembers Program
In partnership with the Naval Medical Center San Diego and the Veterans Administration, ASRA provides adaptive sports opportunities to injured servicemembers. ASRA offers a wide variety of opportunities for those injured to be introduced to and/or play adaptive sports, improve overall fitness, and promote a healthy lifestyle. The program provides the next step in renewing the quality of life for this population. Eligible participants include all active servicemembers and veterans.
Mission: Improving the quality of life for children and adults with physical disabilities through sports and recreation.
