About: Significant.Org is committed to making the volunteer process simple for the volunteer, the nonprofit organization seeking volunteers, as well as corporations interested in having their employees volunteer.
We developed Significant.Org because we found it difficult to navigate through volunteer opportunities in our area. We all live our mild-mannered lives through the week, and now over our weekends, we channel our inner Superhero and build a house with Habitat for Humanity, host a holiday party for the families of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, spend a few hours cleaning up the beautiful California Coast with Surfrider, redecorate a needy childs bedroom with Cecilys Closet, refurbish the gardens of The Arc of San Diego, spend a day as a rancher with Challenge Ranch and much more.
Description: We are Weekend Superheroes! We contact a variety of San Diego Charities and San Diego Chapters of Charities and ask how we can be of service to them for a day. We agree on a project, and we publish the events and our needs on our webpage as well as our Facebook page for our Weekend Superheroes; there they can choose from a variety of projects, learn about the charity that the project is to benefit and elect to sign up for the projects that are of interest to them. It is that simple.
Our charity partners benefit education, animals, the environment, and the community, allowing for our Weekend Superheroes to find a cause that they are passionate about and contribute with their time, money and/or skills for a day. The majority of our volunteers are repeat Superheroes and truly enjoy being able to don many different capes in pursuant of their desire to serve.
Significant.Org understands the benefits of service, and we believe that people want their lives to be significant, and that they desire an emotional, spiritual, and physical community. With the participation in our projects as a Weekend Superheroes, we are supporting this type of group harmony. We also understand the limitless benefits of "Paying it Forward" and we believe that having significance in ones life will cause a ripple effect of emotional and behavioral changes resulting in being more compassionate, tolerant, grateful and loving.
