The American Red Cross serves local citizens by responding to large (floods, earthquake etc.) and small (house fires) disasters and making sure victims have food, clothing and shelter. Our volunteers respond to disasters on the average of every 48 hours. We teach thousands of people each year in basic first aid, CPR and disaster preparedness. We take special efforts to ensure that our servcies are available to people whose native language is not English through the services of our Language Bank. Most of our direct services in all of these areas are provided by volunteers.
Mission: "The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies."
