About
Nobody deserves - or longs for- a safe and loving home more than a foster child.
CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a volunteer-driven agency that advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children in the Delaware County Dependency Court.
These foster children have lost their parents, their friends and have often been separated from their brothers and sisters because the system is horribly overstretched. We have seen children moved from home to home and school to school seven times in a short time frame. You can imagine the heartbreak of seeing a child shuffled among various temporary living situations, not to mention the long-term emotional impact on that child.
Children have a right to be safe. They have a right to be treated with respect and dignity. They have a right to a home where they can rebuild friendships and learn and grow and play. They have a right to enjoy childhood.
CASA volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of the approximately 175 children we serve - fighting to make sure that each child's voice is heard and their rights are upheld. It's a statistical fact that a child with a CASA volunteer has a greater chance of placement in a safe and permanent home.
