Vecinos Unidos is a sixteen year old community based nonprofit organization with two components; an after school Homework Assistance Program (HAP) and its accompanying summer program.
Staffed entirely by volunteers and funded solely by donations and grants, HAP assists students with their daily homework and school projects. The Summer Program offers a wealth of different activities for students including educational field trips that emphasize Standards of Learning (SOL); cooking lessons that incorporate creativity and math concepts; arts and crafts that promote cooperation, teamwork and individual expression; and games that foster positive decision making.
