The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

Our county agency, just north of Washington D.C., was originally created to protect the stream valleys around the D.C. area. We have grown into a 30,000 acre park system with almost 400 local, urban and regional parks; recreation centers; ballfields; playgrounds; and 34 miles of trails.

Mission: Improve the quality of life for Montgomery County Maryland residents by conserving and enhancing the natural and developed environment for current and future generations
