Sammy's House

About

Sammy's House is a nonprofit organization in Austin, Texas with a vision to bridge the gaps in services for children and youth who are medically fragile and/or developmentally delayed. Our mission is to provide high-quality education and care for children and youth with special needs, offer education and resources for families and work to create a community of tolerance and inclusion. Sammy’s House practices a reverse-inclusion model, where 75% of children enrolled are medically fragile and/or developmentally delayed and 25% are typically developing. One-third of our students are under protective care and 1/3 are from economically disadvantaged families. We serve children and youth from newborns to young adults and parents and family members of all ages. Our programs include an award-winning Child Development Center, an evening and weekend Respite/Crisis Care Program, inclusive Youth Summer Camp and adaptive Teen Summer Camp and an Adult Work Readiness program that supports teens and young adults with special needs as they gain the necessary work experience and social skills to lead more independent, fulfilling lives. In addition, We’ve partnered with a variety of community organizations to provide education and resources for families who have children with special needs.
