Crisis pregnancy centers, which go by many different names, are usually run by organizations that are opposed to abortion. Crisis Pregnancy Centers are not medical clinics, but often portray themselves as such. Although these centers offer free pregnancy tests and counseling, the counselors do not give women information about all available medical options so that women can make informed decisions. In fact, many of these centers provide medically inaccurate information about abortion and birth control to manipulate women facing a possible pregnancy.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon has launched a 12-month grassroots campaign throughout 2010 to educate the community on the practices employed by CPCs, and activate supporters to participate in ongoing organizing efforts. The ultimate goal of this campaign is to build momentum and lay the groundwork for a 2011 legislative bill that will regulate CPCs so that pregnant women utilizing CPCs are aware of the exact services and information these facilities do/do not provide.
