About
Since 1949, Junior Achievement (JA) of Georgia has inspired and prepared young people to succeed in a global economy.
By bridging the business and education communities with hands-on programs, JA empowers young people to own their future economic success. From kindergarten through 12th grade, JA provides financial literacy education to students that are both unique and exciting, yet align with Georgia Performance Standards . Learning about practical economics - whether it is a concept as simple as "wants and needs" or as complex as "modern international trade" - JA delivers an enriching experience for Georgias youth.
Four ways to get involved:
JAs programs are offered in four formats. Prior to volunteering, JA provides every volunteer with the materials, training and guidance needed to make the experience a success.
JAs Core programs are delivered in a half day format in which the volunteer leads a classroom of students through lessons that interweave concepts of business, financial literacy, work readiness, entrepreneurship and the relevance of education to future success.
In a one day visit to JA BizTown or JA Finance Park, volunteers guide students as they progress through the interactive simulation. Located at Junior Achievements Chick-fil-A Foundation Discovery Center, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park provides 6th-8th grade students with learning experiences that promote financial literacy and career readiness.
JAMS is an eight-week after-school program that prepares students for success in middle school and beyond. Working in teams students engaged in technical and business exercises that pushes them to develop valuable creative thinking, problem solving and communications skills.
JA Fellows is an 18-week after-school program that provides 9th-12th grade students an opportunity to experience the world of business. This 'learn by doing program allows students to work in teams to conceptualize, capitalize and manage a business. Volunteers work in groups of five to facilitate meetings and provide insight along the way.
We hope you will get involved and help us empower young people to own their economic success!
