About

The Kennesaw MountainTrail Club (KEMOTrail Corps, Inc.) was formed in the fall of 2002 as an in-kind service organization (i.e. all contributions would be in the form of volunteer work on the 20+ miles of trails in the 2,914 acre Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, a unit of the Department of the Interior National Park Service. The club is a Georgia Non-Profit corporation and an IRS 501 (C)(3) tax exempt entity.

Since its founding the club has donated thousands of hours of service to the park, and participated in several National Park Service Challenge Grants and other corporate and foundation grants for projects that benefit the park and the surrounding community.

The two main support functions of KMTC are The Trail Crew, and The Trail Ambassadors. The trail crew are trained and qualified in current best practices for building and maintaining trails, and in leading parties of volunteers with varying skills to perform and complete many projects in the park.

Trail Ambassadors assist the Park Service and Visitors in a variety of ways by patroling the trails, acting as guides and providing information to visitors, serving as observers to assist the park staff with identifying safety, and maintainence, and in any way they can to help ensure that ALL visitors to KEMO have a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience.

As of Spring 2012, KMTC has no paid staff, and maintains no offices or facilities. with few exceptions for operational expenses (i.e. Insurance, office supplies, regulatory fees) all donations received are applied directly to supporting the projects and services of the park.

Mission: Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club (hereafter. "KMTC") has supported the National Park Service at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park (KEMO) since 2002 and is an involved partner, providing assistance focused on the Kennesaw Mountain trail system through volunteer support of NPS objectives. In fiscal year 2011KMTC contributed 10,500 hours building & maintaining Trails and assisting the NPS, guiding and supporting park staff and visitors to have a safe and enjoyable experience. KMTC continues to provide a trail system that gives safe access to historical features of KEMO so that visitors leave with a better understanding of the significance of what happened during the battle. KMTC helps to educate the many recreational users of KEMO trails as to the historic significance of the battle. KMTC promotes awareness of and advocacy for the planning. development. maintenance. operations and protection of KEMO.
