San Mateo County READS is an adult literacy program that provides free one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction to adults who want to improve their basic reading and writing skills. READS works with anyone who is 16 years or older, is functionally proficient in English, and who is not enrolled in a formal educational setting. Adult learners meet with their trained volunteer tutor 2-3 hours a week in a reliable, safe and caring learning environment.
Mission: San Mateo County Library READS helps adults and their families improve their reading and writing skills so they are able to achieve their educational, career, and personal life goals.
