Through a combination of hands-on work experience in the bakery, comprehensive job skills and job search training, financial literacy education and formal customer service training, Cookie Cart helps teens develop the tools they need to become successful, self-reliant adults.
Cookie Cart's programs include (these are discussed in more detail in the Purpose of Request section):
Bakery Program - This is an experiential, hands-on job training program where young people work in the bakery - baking, packaging and selling cookies - and learn basic employment skills.360 Degree Program - This is an advanced work readiness program that builds upon the bakery experience and prepares youth to transition to jobs in the mainstream workforce.Customer Service Training Program - This program teaches youth employees the concepts and skills required to present a positive image and provide responsive service to customers. Interpersonal communications skills are at the core of this training.National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRC) - Cookie Cart is offering teens an additional tool, a nationally-recognized credential, to verify to prospective employers that they have the foundational skills necessary to be successful employees.
Mission: Cookie Cart's mission is: Cookie Cart provides teens 15 to 18 years old with lasting and meaningful work, life and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban nonprofit bakery.
