We plan to serve diverse, at-risk, high school juniors and seniors with the goal of assisting them in meeting graduation requirements and placing them in career opportunities that will lead them to self sufficiency. Our core programs will consist of supplemental tutoring and academic support in reading and math aimed at demonstrating the proficiency necessary to pass the standardized tests required for graduation. Additionally we will be offering soft skill training focused on appropriate workplace behavior in order to teach the skills necessary to successfully navigate the workplace. We will be implementing technology solutions to support a blended, applied learning methodology leveraging both instructor lead as well as on-line training opportunities, with needed technology available for use at the Career Hub. We will then leverage a corporate partner to provide internship opportunities to those who demonstrate the drive and desire for the available types of work.
Mission: The mission of the Career Hub is to provide a supplemental skills and tutoring program to improve the academic achievement of under-performing minority students in the Twin Cities seven county metro area. The goal of the Career Hub program is for 100% of participants to achieve proficient marks on state testing in mathematics and reading as well as acquiring soft skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.
