Avenues for Homeless Youth provides emergency shelter and transitional living beds for homeless youth ages 16-20. The organization also offers case management services, Independent Living Skills classes, counseling, holistic health practices, and other enrichment activities. In addition, Avenues for Homeless Youth operates four Host Home programs, two focused on youth who identify at GLBT (one long term and one short term), one focused on youth in Minneapolis proper, and one focused on youth from suburban Hennepin County. These Host Home programs house homeless youth with a family who can offer them a spare bedroom and provide them with food during their stay.
Mission: The mission of Avenues for Homeless Youth is to provide emergency shelter, short term housing and support services for homeless youth in a safe and nurturing environment. Through such service, Avenues seeks to help youth achieve their personal goals and make a positive transition into young adulthood.
