The Kaylen Foundation helps the children and families at the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Many of these children are in the intensive care units and have long term illnesses that require the families to live with them at the hospital. Therefore we provide assistance with basic needs for the families such as a toiletry kit and gas cards to assist them in travel home to spend time with their other children. 65% of the families are not from the Middle TN area and leaving their jobs and families behind for extended periods of time can be a financial and emotional hardship. We also provide monthly arts and craft activities for the children and their siblings at the hospital.
The Kaylen Foundation has been asked by the hospital to establish and provide financial support for a bereavement program where we help financially with funeral expenses in order for parents to be able to have a burial for their child and not have to resort to cremation due to financial strains. Currently the foundation provides memory molds, journals as well as bereavement gowns and blankets to the families.
Mission: The Kaylen Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families enduring an illness resulting in an extended hospital stay by providing financial and emotional assistance
