In January-late March 2014, Springbrook Elementary School will introduce the W.A.V.E. Program, a 12 week mentorship program aimed to cultivate a college career mindset, motivate academic success, and encourage positive social interaction towards 4-6th grade elementary school students. After undergoing a selective matching process, mentors will meet with their student(s) once a week for one hour at the elementary school and the AmeriCorps Rep/Volunteer Coordinator will be at each session to provide that week's curriculum. The curriculum will include ways to improve studying habits, learn about the prospects of college, and allow time for homework help at the end of each session. This is a great opportunity to foster an influential mentor-student relationship with an elementary school student where both parties involved can learn from one another while growing together!
Mission: Be the W.A.V.E. of the future: Work hard and achieve Academic Success, Virtue, and Enrichment in the lives and minds of elementary school students!
