The Council of Orange County Society of St. Vincent de Paul is here to serve people in need. As one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, Orange County is also extremely expensive. According to local statistics, "65% of the homeless in Orange County are working and remain homeless."
Another group that many Orange County residents don't know much about is the incarcerated and their families. Of the families that must deal with the shame and discrimination of having a loved one incarcerated, it's the children who suffer the most. These young people are five to six times more likely than any other single group of at-risk children to become incarcerated. In addition, 95% of these children live in low income families.
The Council of Orange County Society of St. Vincent de Paul serves all of these people and many more.
Our method of operation relies heavily on volunteer support and donations to our Thrift Stores. This allows for over 91 cents of every dollar donated to be utilized for programs and services.
