Youth biking program providing mountain biking outings, environmental education and bicycle mechanics training for low income youth. Children not only have a chance to go on bike rides but at our bike workshop facilities they can earn points towards bikes of their own. We have two workshops in San Rafael. One is for the younger kids at 135 Alto in the Canal District. The other is for teens at the new Marin Teen Center at 1115 3rd Street. At the later facility we train the kids for employment with our shop or other shops. We also provide computer education and a chance for the children to earn a computer. Other programs include an art program for the kids and a BMX team. Our bike thrift shop, Re-Cyclery, at 610 4th Street in San Rafael, provides most of the funding for our program. It is like a Goodwill/Salavation Army store but all for bikes, parts and accessories. By shopping at our store or donating your used bikes, parts and accessories you also help our program. Hours are Tues - Friday12 - 6pm and Sat & Sun 10 - 4pm
Mission: Trips for Kids is a non-profit youth biking program that provides mountain biking outings, environmental education, and bicycle mechanics training for low income youth. Our goal is to combine lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun.
