The Wagner Farm Arboretum is 100% operated by volunteers. It is in it's developmental stage which affords many volunteer opportunites in several different areas from hands on gardening to working on committees and running programs.
We have a very successful Community Garden that includes a Giving Garden and our Children's Garden is open, however, not completed. The Community Garden provides plots that are rented and used for organic gardening. The Giving Garden section is manned by volunteers and the produce is givng to the needy.
Our main educational program is called Growing to Give and provides children in the local elementary schools an opportunity to start seeds in their classrooms that they will plant in the Giving Garden. We also have several projects that involve girl scouts and boy scouts.
Future plans will include diverse trees, shrubs, flowers and other plant life in a beautiful natural setting. It will include additional formal gardens, a greenhouse, handicapped accessible gardens, meditation garden, picnic area, main pavillion, walking trails and other related gardening activities. We hope to some day have a buttterfly conservatory.
Wagner Farm Arboretum Foundation looks forward to innovative ideas, suggestions, and the refreshing spirit that accompanies a willingness to serve. We welcome experienced gardeners, those willing to learn and those who just want to be a part of a great experience. Non-gardening talents are also needed on many levels.
Mission: The Wagner Farm Arboretum Foundation is a non-profit fund raising organization supporting a suburban conservancy and learning center on the former Wagner Farm.
