I am working on a project about dog food! Please take the following survey, I want to hear what matters to you when you pick your own dog food :)
https://utexas.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_enPMTcrcbwRFpSB
Have you been struggling to find the time to visit the shelter and volunteer? Has it been difficult for you to meet the six hour per month volunteer requirement? We may have the perfect solution for you. When you opt to foster an animal, you can accrue impact hours from the comfort of your own home!
We are currently seeking volunteers to foster our longer stay dogs. Opening your home to one of these dogs will not only give them a break from the shelter, it will allow YOU to be their number one advocate! You won’t just be a foster care provider, you will be a photographer, videographer, biographer, a marketing specialist, and an adoption counselor, all while earning impact hours at a rate of two hours for each day that you foster. As an added bonus, many of our long stay dogs have been involved in our shelter playgroups, and been friendly with a variety of different pups – so if you have dogs at home already, one of these awesome shelter dogs could be a perfect addition!
To get started, please visit austinanimalcenter.org and click the "foster" button to complete the foster application online. If you are already an approved foster, or if you have additional questions, please contact the Foster Coordinator directly at animal.foster@austintexas.gov.

Is there somewhere at TLAC we can bathe dogs?
Yes, there is a room where you can bathe them and there is a protocol for the volunteers. Also sometimes BathAThons are offered — Martina Bluem Martina Bluem on July 29, 2015

Volunteers:

The RV Clinics are critical to reaching segments of our community that are at
greatest risk for relinquishing their pets to the shelter.

OWNER RELINQUISH = INCREASE IN INTAKE = DECREASE IN LIVE OUTCOME

Far more than a rabies vaccination, these clinics provide pet owners with the
opportunity to ask questions and receive valuable information and resources that
improve outcomes.
Help us maintain Austin No-Kill. Assist us in helping pet owners by providing
them with the tools and resources necessary to care responsibly for their pets.

t's that time again! I really need your help. I need 4+ volunteers to assist with trailer inventory to prepare for the next Rabies Vaccination Clinic. Unfortunately, I cannot do this project by myself.

Duration: with 4+ people, about 3.5 hrs.

The duration time is inversely proportional to the number of volunteers.

What: Review contents of supply bins to ensure they are adequate. Some lifting. Shared lifting always possible.
Saturday, 2/7/2015 10:00 AM-1:30 PM

Visit the opportunities tab to sign up. Volunteers must sign up to participate. This is a group activity that is done one time until it is done

Questions?: Shoot me an e-mail at kimberly.hart@austintexas.gov with "trailer inventory" in your subject heading.

Thank you for all that you do!!
2-3 COPY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ASAP

It's that time again. I need 2-3 volunteers to come in and make a few reams of copies of select flyers and place pre-determined quantities of each into envelopes.

I would like these mailed out by 01/31/15.

The volunteer or volunteers will be responsible for the following:
1. Making the correct amount of copies per flyer and divide appropriately into corresponding stacks of varying pre-determined quantities. (A sheet containing flyer quantity per location will be provided.)
2. Marking the box on the sheet next to each location indicating the envelope is complete. For example: St. John’s Library: 50 Rabies Clinic Flyers, 75 Emancipet Flyers (Eng/Span) and 50 Rabies Clinic Calendar Flyers.
3. Addressing and filling the envelopes
4. Placing them in the Interoffice Mail basket.
• These materials are dated and need to be completed by COB 1/31/15
• This task can be divided into 2-3 visits by one volunteer or singular visits among multiple
volunteers.
• The total time for this project is 5-6 hrs. as the copying takes time as well as dividing the
flyers into stacks of varying quantities to place into envelopes.
• If you would like to share the activity with a fellow volunteer, that is fine too, as long as the
envelopes are complete and in the mail box ready to post. Once started, the project must be fully
completed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have never done this activity before, it is important that I review it with you briefly. I am available to do this beginning: 1/15/15 9:00-1:00, 3:30-5:00 01/19/15 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM; 01/20/15 9:00-1:00 3:00-6:00; 01/22/15 9:00 PM-6:00 PM; 01/23/15 11:00-6:00. 1/26/15 9:00-6:00 1/27/15 4:00-6:00 1/28/15 9:00-4:00 1/29/15 9:00-5:00 1/30/15 9:00-5:00. I can stay later on most days if needed BY ARRANGEMENT ONLY. Please e-mail me to arrange a time.
If you have done this before, WEEKENDS, early mornings and late evenings are ALSO available. We can arrange the info via e-mail.

To volunteer, send me an e-mail with “Outreach Packets” in the subject heading to kimberly.hart@austintexas.gov In the body of your e-mail, indicate the time that is most convenient for you. If you have volunteered for this in the past, you are welcome to suggest an alternate time for there will be very little for me to explain. I am in the office most of next week. I can stay late on some evenings by arrangement. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for all that you do!!
I somehow lost a (brand new) blue glove tonight while I was walking the big dogs. If anyone happens to find it, please let me know! Thanks.
Also, check out lost and found in the cashier's office! Thanks, Sarah — Animal Services Volunteer Team Animal Services Volunteer Team on January 2, 2015

Thank you for presenting such a wonderful volunteer orientation this morning. It was a lot of information, but it was well-organized and interesting. I have been involved with similar organizations in the past and the Animal Animal Center is very impressive. Thanks again.
Thank you for attending! We look forward to having you on our team! — Animal Services Volunteer Team Animal Services Volunteer Team on December 17, 2014

I figured more volunteers who are coming to the shelter today for the special holiday event would see this. I had the urge to do some baking at home and brought over some brownies and left them in the volunteer office, please help yourselves!
