When the Prevent Cancer Foundation was started in 1985, the concept of cancer prevention and early detection was not widely embraced by the medical community or the general public. Today, cancer prevention and early detection is at the forefront of reducing cancer diagnoses and death. We have played a key role in changing this perception.
Prevent Cancer focuses its resources on cancers such as breast, cervical, colorectal, lung, oral, prostate, skin and testicular that can be prevented through lifestyle changes or early detection and treatment. In addition to these 8 cancers, there are many other preventable cancers like anal, endometrial, head and neck, penile, throat and vulvar cancers.
Prevent Cancer has invested $134 million in research, education, advocacy and community outreach programs in support of our mission of saving lives through cancer prevention and early detection.
Mission: The mission of the Prevent Cancer Foundation is saving lives through cancer prevention and early detection.
