Welcome to IT-oLogy Charlotte!
IT-oLogy, a five year old national nonprofit organization headquartered in Columbia, SC, is a collaboration of businesses, academic institutions and organizations dedicated to growing the IT talent pipeline from kindergarten to the office of the CIO, fostering economic development and advancing the IT profession.
Why IT-oLogy Charlotte?
A Charlotte Technology Talent Task Force formed in February 2012 to proactively create awareness around the national IT talent challenge and its impact to the region. The task force was made up of small to large businesses, academic institutions, economic development and IT organizations. We were introduced to the IT-oLogy organization in June and agreed IT-oLogy was already four years ahead of what we were trying to do and opened the Charlotte branch in January 2013.
We are busy connecting the Charlotte IT-ecosystem. IT-oLogy functions as an aggregator, not duplicating existing organizational efforts, rather leveraging and promoting them, identifying gaps, working together to develop new programs that grow the future IT talent pool through these initiatives:
Promote IT (K-12):encouraging students, educators and parents to learn more about the IT profession.
Teach IT (Higher Education): working with businesses, colleges and universities on experiential learning opportunities that strengthen and align classroom skills to current and future IT business needs.
Grow IT (Professionals): Joining IT professionals and their companies to provide innovative and life-long learning and professional development opportunities.
