The PTO and garden also strive to connect families and the community with the school community in order to promote family and community involvement in the school. The School Garden will serve as an outdoor classroom and a place where students can learn about where their food comes from. We also hope they will learn to love healthy food.

The Elkins School Garden will host a Volunteer Workday at the Elkins Primary and Elementary Garden. Bring work gloves and tools if you have them. We have some too, so don’t worry if you don’t. We’ll be turning in the beds, clearing weeds, and adding compost. It’s good exercise for a good cause! The students had an incredibly successful garden season last Spring and we are looking forward to helping them get started again this year.
The Volunteer Workday will be on March 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the school garden between the primary and elementary buildings. If it is too rainy, snowy, or too cold, we will reschedule for March 12th.
