In 2013, The Global Slavery Index said there are 29.8 million people trapped in modern slavery worldwide. Human Trafficking: "the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion." (US State Department) We are students that are broken-hearted and want to fight for these people that can't fight for themselves. It doesn't matter that we aren't in India, where there is the the highest amount of enslaved people. We can make a difference now. Abroad and locally. It starts now, with our voice and our advocacy for people enslaved. As an RSO on the University of Arkansas campus, we are trying to spread the word about standing up for trafficked people as well as raising money to bring those people to a place of freedom and redemption. We partner with an organization called Tiny Hands International (http://www.tinyhandsinternational.org/) , who works in rescuing people from the regions in and around Nepal. Tiny Hands works in 4 different areas: Education and Awareness, Aftercare, Prosecution, and Investigation.
