Volunteer and Service

About

Community Service and Civic Engagement (CSCE) staff serve to support and connect IUPUI students, faculty, and staff with service and civic engagement opportunities in the Indianapolis community and beyond. We serve as a resource to IUPUI students, faculty, and staff who need assistance in finding, planning, or funding an educationally meaningful community service project. Staff work out of the Office of Student Involvement in the Division of Student Affairs and the Center for Service and Learning within the Office of Community Engagement.

The CSCE team oversees some of IUPUI's signature events and works to promote civic minded graduates through research-based practices. Programs include:
- Days of Service, including iServe (September), Day of Caring (October), MLK Day of Service (January), César Chávez Day of Service (March), and Jags in the Street (monthly)

-Alternative Breaks, including one Fall Alternative Break (October), one international spring break (March) and several domestic alternative breaks (March)

-Community Leaders of Tomorrow (CLT) Residential Based Learning Community in Ball Hall

-Sam H. Jones (SHJ) Community Service Scholarship: CSCE manages five SHJ programs, including Alternative Break Trip Leaders, Community Service Leaders, Community Service Scholars, First Year Service Scholars, and ServiceCorps
