The Douglas Center

About

We are a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. Their functioning level ranges from profound to mild. We teach daily living skills, social skills, community skills, and work skills. We also offer therapies with licensed therapists such as art, dance, and pet therapy. Our purpose is to teach the clients to be as independent as they can be.

Volunteers are needed to help in numerous ways ranging from leading activities for the clients (such as dance therapy or jewelery shop) to helping the staff with clerical duties.

Mission: At the Douglas Center we are devoted to providing the best possible enviornment for our developmentally disabled clients to engage in social interaction with others, to receive needed attention, and to pursue vocational tasks. Thus, we need the help of dedicated volunteers who are socially interactive and are dedicated to aiding others.
