Asian Youth Services

About

Asian Youth Services is seeking enthusiastic volunteers for our one-on-one mentoring program.

Asian Youth Services is an after-school tutoring and mentoring program for students ages 5 to 20 located on Chicago's North Side. Although any youth is welcome, AYS primarily serves resettled refugee families from the Southeast Asian genocide of the 1970's. All of the youths of AYS come from families on public aid. AYS goes beyond the scope of a typical after-school program, working with families and local schools to counteract negative influences that would otherwise doom the vast majority of these youths to street gangs or prison. AYS was founded in 1992. Through our belief in "empowerment through education", we have a 20+ year history of changing lives; helping elementary school drop-outs become college graduates.

Mission: Our mission is to provide the community's at-risk youth with high-quality educational experiences and mentoring relationships that will equip them to succeed in school and in life.
