Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York

About

In 1975, Father Paul Sheridan envisioned a program combining a quality education and a nurturing home environment to benefit at-risk children. His idea was to maximize the long-term results of the program by providing stability, fostering personal responsibility and optimizing each child's ability to fulfill his/her potential. This vision was realized when the first Boys Hope home opened its doors in 1977.

Since that time, Boys Hope Girls Hope has expanded to include sixteen affiliates and thirty-seven homes throughout the United States and another eight homes in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Guatemala. Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York opened its doors in 1979 and, since that time, we have been offering an innovative educational, residential, outreach program to children from all five boroughs of the City of New York and Long Island. In September 2009, Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York assumed operation of the boarding program for boys at the Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. Located in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill neighborhood, this program affords us the opportunity to bring our unique Mission of serving academically capable and motivated children in need to (25) young men.

In addition to the Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York boarding program at the Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn, which we assumed operation of in 2007, our program now comfortably accommodates 65 youth in residence. In addition, we proudly support several program graduates financially and emotionally as they pursue their goals in college.

Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York operates as a New York 501(c)(3) corporation. We rely heavily upon the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations to attend to the many needs of our Scholars.

Mission: Boys Hope Girls Hope is an organization unique in New York. It's a safe zone where young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are given the education, the environment, the support, and the opportunities to overcome their obstacles and achieve personal and professional success.
