Habitat for Humanity Portland Region

About

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and that starts with a stable and healthy place to call home. Founded in 1981, we have built and repaired homes in partnership with over 1,700 people right here in the Portland Metro region. We are invested in creating a Portland where everyone has the opportunity to build a better life. Habitat for Humanity Portland Region is part of a global nonprofit housing organization that works in communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in 70 countries.

Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Besides our well-known construction sites, we also have ReStores!
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts donated new and used building materials, furniture, appliances, lighting fixtures and other home goods, and we sell them in our stores to raise money for Habitat home-building projects. In fact, in spite of closures due to the pandemic, we took in 49,031 donations from individuals and business partners in 2020. The ReStore is also big into reuse. In 2020 our team helped to divert 6,133 tons of reusable materials from landfills--and we're working to improve that number. We earned $67,878 by recycling metal, paint, clothing and other materials.
