The event was great! We naturalized a couple trails and made two trails.
Had fun naturalizing and making trails.
At the Mt. Sequoyah Trail we helped naturalize some of the trails that they wanted to get rid of. We also helped make new trails.
On Saturday, April 28 I volunteered with a group called Ozark Off-Road Cyclists from 8:00-1:30. On this service project we nearly completed the end of a new mountain biking trail at Lincoln Lake park. A group of twelve of us met early in the morning in the lake parking lot. From there we grouped up and drove four trucks into the woods to a maintenance entrance. From there we hiked roughly three miles, carrying pickaxes and other tools. When we arrived we stripped 4-8" of topsoil off the marked path, removing vegetation and loose rock. We used rocks found on the hillside to create stable paths wherever water was flowing down the trail. By the end of the day we had completed roughly 50 yards of the trail, built stable trail over water flows, and closed an older, worn out trail. We finished our work a little after 1:30 on Saturday afternoon, and final maintenance touches will be done as the new trail settles if any issues appear.
I had a lot of fun building trails for bikers and hikers. The people were friendly and it was honestly fun.
Gregory Park Trail Project was an awesome experience with amazing people ! The sponsors provided a lot of information and made everyone feel welcome! Would most definitely attend another event ❤️
Great time, looking forward to going back
