About

The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia Volunteer Department functions on a needs-basis for our distribution program. As needs change and evolve on an almost daily occasion, the Volunteer Department assists the Food Bank in any area of need. Volunteers who sign for this position are offering any assistance that the Volunteer Department needs.

Volunteers must be 16 and older to attend volunteer events at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. 


Responsibilities:

Some examples of potential projects include:

  • Bagging Events
  • Building orders and stocking product on pallets
  • Processing donations/Agency Shopping Assistance
  • Moving/Stocking product
  • Setting up for events
  • Cleaning Tasks

Tasks could require standing for the duration of the event, lifting up to 35 pounds, and repetitive motions.


As a reminder, we do not offer community service hours for volunteer work.

This event is not open to minors (ages 16 and younger) at this time.

Volunteers must wear close-toed shoes at all volunteer events and follow the dress code, listed in our Volunteer Handbook. Volunteers not in dress-code will not be designated hours or permitted to volunteer.

FIRST-TIME VOLUNTEERS: PLEASE FINISH OUR "NEW VOLUNTEER SURVEY" AND REVIEW OUR VOLUNTEER HANDBOOK BEFORE ATTENDING EVENTS.

Parking Details
We encourage volunteers to carpool when possible as parking at our facility is limited. Volunteers may park in any available parking spot. Please ring the doorbell at the orange door to be greeted by Volunteer Department staff into our volunteer center.

If no parking spot is available, please ask Reception or Volunteer Department staff to designate additional parking.

Our Athens facility is located at 861 Newton Bridge Road, Athens, GA, 30607.
