Event DescriptionInternship Description: Since opening in 2005, HALO has served 7,500 individuals. We serve men, women and children. The Social and human services internship would involve assisting in the intake and oversight of all participants that stay at HALO. During their first 2 months, they assist at the front desk which involves both reception and intake duties. After that time, that are able to assist case managers with notes, observe group facilitation and more. Hours: Around 3-10 hours/week Start Date: ASAP Primary Responsibilities: 1) Reception a) Assist site staff in answering phone calls. b) Greet all donors and assist them in bringing in donations. You will also assist in providing proper donation acknowledgement paperwork to all donors. c) Sort mail to appropriate participants. d) Assist in cleaning of intake area. This could include vacuuming & dusting. 2) Intake Process and Client Management a) Observe and then assist site staff with intake of new HALO clients. b) Assist staff in transmitting the rules and expectations outlined by HALO> 3) Case Management Assistant a) Assist case managers in client note transcription b) Observe case manager and house meetings. With time, you may be able to assist in the facilitation of house meetings. Requirements: The ideal candidate should have experience or be working towards a social service or human services degree. The candidate needs to be very mature, responsible and honest. Qualifications: • High school diploma required • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through on tasks • Ability to work independently but communicate as needed for guidance and clarification • Demonstrated experience in project, program and/or organizational management • Ability to perform hard and repetitive physical work, and lift at least 50lbs • Willingness to work among diverse populations • Computer literacy, comfort with technology, social networks and email outreach
