Event Description

Urban Roots is founded on the idea that food is a powerful tool for academic and sustainable agriculture instruction. In order to realize our mission of growing healthy minds, bodies, and communities, we provide school and farm-based opportunities for teachers, students, families, and future farmers. Urban Roots is a part of a larger movement in northern Nevada to make the place we live abundant with healthy food, rich soil, and deep relationships with each other and the land

Volunteer
Building communities means creating resilience from the inside out.  How will we know how to lead sustainable lives if we don’t learn along the way?  And how will we know what is possible if we don’t make it happen ourselves?  If you’re looking for an opportunity to give back and learn a lot in the process, then join us!

We are always looking for volunteers for our programs and garden events. Volunteers come to our farm to help with larger farm projects focused on integrating permaculture principles, and making our farm an enriching learning environment.  Drop In opportunities are available every Tuesday and Saturday from 10am-noon.

Garden tasks include farm maintenance, garden bed making, composting, mulching, weeding, planting, chicken chores. Please bring sunscreen, a water bottle and appropriate farm/outdoor clothing and footwear.

Drop In Times Saturday and Tuesday 10am12pm
