Description | Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) brings students and farmworkers together to learn about each other’s lives, share resources and skills, improve conditions for farmworkers, and build diverse coalitions working for social change. Each year, SAF reaches 5,000 farmworkers, develops the leadership of 50 young people, and educates thousands more students and community members through coordination of National Farmworker Awareness Week (NFAW).

We know that the continuation of NFAW is needed now more than ever. We recognize that the collective work of this national partnership strengthens the work of our individual organizations and groups to address the root causes of injustices faced by farmworkers.

SAF invites official partners to apply for a mini grant to help cover the cost of a NFAW event. We plan to give out up to $1,000 in mini-grants in 2019. Funds requested must be lower than the total amount of $1,000. In order to be considered for the award, each applicant must be an official NFAW 2019 partner and submit a completed application on Givepulse by 5pm, February 1st, 2019. Priority will be given to groups that are officially registered NFAW partners, that have events during the week of action (March 25th-31st), and to SAF alumni.

A committee of 3 to 4 NFAW partners will review the mini-grant applications and determine the recipients of the mini-grants. The NFAW partners who receive mini-grants are expected to use the NFAW materials, promote NFAW campaign and fill out the NFAW report after the event.
