Staff and fellow volunteers were very friendly and talkative. Clients were a delight. It is my pleasure to give my service for my internship to this organization.
Very pleasant experience! I had a challenging client but was paired with a fellow volunteer who was helpful. We worked together well and got through it smoothly. I was perplexed yet chose to focus outward on my client and what I could do to make her visit to the pantry a positive one. She clearly had some health challenges and was working through it as best as one would expect in her condition.
Very pleasant experience, lots of interaction with the clients today. I turned the rusty gears and was able to speak the minimal amount of Spanish I know. It felt good to be able to do that in spite of not being fluent in spanish.
I was also interacting lots with staff/volunteers today which was enjoyable.
A good experience overall. I was a bit aggravated by something but was able to work past it. I did not let it ruin my entire day. It felt good to express myself and move on. As a child I did a lot of ,stuffing my feelings, which carried into adolescence and even adulthood.
If nothing else I learned that letting feeling out is important and good to our own mental health. I obviously know this, however learning by doing, most often has a deeper impact and produces change. These things are all common knowledge to most, but I've discovered a new level of freedom putting this into practice daily.
This experience was enriching indeed. I assisted a client through the pantry that seemed to have a jet pack attached to him. He went so fast that it gave me some anxiety, however, i managed to not let it consume me. I remained cool and calm on the surface.
If nothing else, I feel this tested my ability to deal with anxiety. In the past I may not have dealt with this situation with such ease and humor. It showed me my own growth. All of the other clients that I had were pleasant, however there was one that questioned the rules. I gently redirected her while I assured her that it was indeed the way things are done around here. This is helping me practice having clear boundaries as I wasn't exposed to this during my own upbringing.
I'm enjoying mingling among fellow volunteers and the positive happy environment there. The staff is very friendly and accepting of me. This has been an enjoyable experience. I'm getting very positive vibes. It is a very consistent stable environment that is constant. I can rely on the fact that when I walk through that door each time I will see welcoming happy faces, at the risk of sounding a bit corny.
