Our PTK group gathered to help Kind Works organization to prepare breakfast for the Men's homeless shelter in Rockville. We enjoyed preparing the meal, meeting other participants of the activity, and learning more about the organization. We were excited to contribute our time and effort to help our community.
It felt great to get together with the other students to pack food for children at a local school. It required minimum skills and time but provided maximum benefit for our community.
It was my first time participating in a volunteering activity of such kind, and it was absolutely amazing! Our group of volunteers was in charge of preparing a nutritious breakfast for the MCCH men's shelter. As much as I enjoy cooking, I enjoyed being among vibrant and motivated people who participated in this activity. It was a pleasure to work in a friendly environment of love and care for others. I am delighted to be able to contribute to our community, and I am looking forward to other projects where I can make even more impact.
The Alliance of Concerned Men is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping residents of low-income neighborhoods. They organize workshops and concerts (e.g. week of non-violence), as well as public initiatives (e.g. Guns for Jobs).
Beginning July 2017 and ending August 2017, I volunteered at the Alliance of Concerned Men headquarters,
located in the District of Columbia. I monitored inquirer emails, and all social media outlets. I assisted during the "Plant a Tree" initiative and I also helped coordinating with community partners, and housing associations for tree placement approval, and resources necessary for execution. It was truly an honor to work with the distinguished team of the Alliance of Concerned Men who are truly dedicated to helping their communities and to promoting activism.
