During this time on Sunday, I helped Helene and a team of the partnership's leaders relocate and manage several bags of mulch for later use. This task mostly involved physical exertion, but also required some degree of teamwork. Ultimately, After having completed the task, I felt I had contributed to making a substantial impact not only on the aesthetic appeal of the Providence Park located at 11 West Dr., but also certain functional elements. In particular, I helped to spread mulch throughout the garden bordering the driveway to the Parks building and storage pods. A less obvious aim of this task was to make time to offer local, disadvantaged children a means to make a positive impact in their community. In this, I was exposed to an interesting dynamic regarding the apparent relationship these children have with the park and with working with others. I hope that I impacted those children that day by means of serving as a role model for civic action and environmental care.

During this time, I was part of a meeting with Helene and several other individuals leading in supporting P3's mission. We deliberated a number of successful and not so successful measures taken to improve General Street Park. One of the overarching issues discussed was either a lack of understanding or care on the end of those hired for carrying out particular tasks issued by the Parks' core partners, as well as a general lack of communication between the city, the partnership, and various donors and contractors. Above all, however, with just over a mere $7,000 left in the budget and the city appearing to be working against them, the partnership is facing an extreme deficit of sufficient funds to adhere to its long-term plans for further construction of the park(s). At this point, the most the partnership can do is maintain what has already been established and work toward developing ways of receiving more financial and labor-based aid. In at least this latter facet, I hope to help P3 make the most of what it has and, hopefully, help develop a more comprehensive, long-term plan.
