Today was a short and busy day. We intaracted with many Veterans that come in for lunch that Clear Path puts on every Thursday for Vterans and families.
I had a interview and goal setting and solution with a Vet that needed employment and VA Voc Rehab to pay for him to go back to college to obtain a Bachelor's degree that would put him in a postion to obtain gainful and economically substaining employment in his field.
Co-Facilitated a fishing trip for tuna with 4 Veterans, one in particular in long term recovery from SUD
Another productive and awesome day.
Started out covering the reception desk, which I interacted with Vets that came in and answered the phone.
\Enjoyed mingling during the lunch that was happening for Vets and Families.
Co-Facilitated the Freedom Writing group.
Co-Facilitated the AA meeting that we are working hard to get off the ground. We discussed a legnthly options and solutions for personal things that are going on in our lives.
Wow, what a day, I have been doing so much personald sel-care, which is vital to prevent burn-out.
Today I went over my hours and glad to announce thatr after today I have 17.5 hours left for my internship requirements.
Today I reviewed the presentation that my fellow internist has been working on that we will be presenting to the staff here.
I am working on scherduling a Vet to participate in the Build-A-Flag. This Vet is special as he has parkinsons desease. This is especially rewarding.
Started out the day with the volunteer coordinator and going over donations that I had gotten and will obtain. Then spent more time on the SUD treatment facicility list. Had lunch with Vets and families, and even a few dogs. The highlight of the day besides the AA meeting that I cofacilitated, was puppysitting Billy, a female Lab. I like to call her Billy Joe.
Watched the process for certifying a service dog training. I was amazed at not only the dog having to be trained, but the owner as well. There are hand signals, commands, and the gratitude sayings. Spent time with 2 new pups.
Started out the day working on the referral list of alcohol and drug treatment centers, just to add, I am thoroghly checking to see if these agencies are Veteran friendly.
Spent the evening playing guitar support and co-facilitating Frets for Vets, which is open to Veterans and Allies to Vets. We had a great time supporting each other as We came together and blended like we had been knowing each other forever.
Just to add I am still working on donations for our raffles.
Spent a majority of the day getting donations for the raffles. Then covered the front desk for Kelly, I also filled out a questionaire for Peer Support. Also made arraingments to give a disabled Vet a ride to go Tuna fisshing, at which I will be assisting on the trip.
Volunteered to help out with the car show, even though it was rained out, a couple of Vets were there along with staff and we had supportive great coversations. Monday I met with volunteer coordinator and I went out and gathhered donations for raffles benefitting Vets and Military.
