    Nebraska Disaster Recovery and Mitigation

Traveled with two students over Fall Break to Fremont, Nebraska assisting in a Habitat for Humanity home build. We learned how to frame from Tom and Lenny, two veteran volunteers from the area. Additionally, we met Evelyn and her family who moved into their Habitat home two years ago. We were treated with warm hospitality throughout our day with conversation, food and of course construction techniques. On our way back to Lincoln, we discussed how Habitat for Humanity is a strong ethical, faith-based organization that rarely do you hear any negative news which attempts to meet affordable housing needs in communities. The Center for Civic Engagement will continue to support the Nebraska Disaster Recovery and affordable housing needs in Fremont.
