Because Art History is my major and something I am passionate about, I was able to use my passion to volunteer and help a fellow classmate that struggles in the area. We worked on a vast amount of art work and I explained why certain things were important and how they related to their time period and their location. I saw that breaking things down for this student was very helpful and as I explained the why of everything she understood the information more and more. this was also helpful to me because I used something I am passionate about to help others.

    MLK Day of Service

For this day of service, I went to Dorothy's Place, which is a day care center for people suffering with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. I helped with various activities throughout the day such as demonstrating different stretches, read trivia, called out bingo, and helped clean mats. I really enjoyed this experience, especially the trivia part as I was able to talk to different people and witness everyones different personalities and just have a good time.

    Grand Opening

At the carpenter house, my friends and I were able to sit and visit with some of the guest and talk and play cards with them. We also made them coffee so they could enjoy a warm beverage in this cold weather. My friends and I also sorted, organized, folded and counted acceptable and non acceptable blankets so that they could easily be distributed at a later time to those guests who would be unable to stay over night in one of the churches. Once we finished folding and stacking the blankets that were donated that day, we had accumulated just around 375 blankets for guests around memphis. After this, we then again sat and spent time with the guest and participated in some card magic tricks, which was probably the4 highlight of my experience.
