I LOVED being able to volunteer for the new CMNH hospital. the night was filled with fun, laughter, and lots of fundraising. As volunteers we greeted the guests of the event before they walked in, helped sign them in, and then gave them the appropriate wrist bands they needed for entrance. This was a great way to connect with other professionals from the hospital and community. It also allowed me to watch how excited and passionate the community is for this hospital to open!
The disaster simulation was a very valuable experience. Coming from a profession that may not see the in poor of patients as a disaster unfolds, it was really eye-opening to see what the other professions go through. I do feel like I was in the way a little bit since I just played "security," but it was a great experience overall.
I loved volunteering at the farmers market again. It was a great time to be with our community, talk with others about nutrition, and watch little kids try new veggies they had never tried before!
At open house we had the opportunity to speak with current undergraduate seniors who are about to start the application process through DICAS. We got to talk about our program, teachers, classes, and answer any questions they might have had. The experience helped us improve communication skills.
