Overall, I learned how to work collaboratively with a program partner and partner evaluators on a program evaluation survey. I gained important interpersonal and evaluation/analysis skills in the process, and was so happy to give the Latino Student Fund a bilingual survey and a lot of meaningful quantitative & qualitative data at the end of this evaluation.

It was a great experience. Both my professor and the program director were attentive and timely, and gave great feedback. My partners and I worked step by step on this process together, and learned a lot about evaluation and methods in program planning and evaluation, and how to work within limitations in place due to contextual factors. Most importantly, I learned about how to curate good questions to a specific population/age range (i.e., making questions for a wide age range of school-age youth and young adults, some of which speak and understand English, Spanish, or both); and then helped my team put those questions in a survey created on Qualtrics.
The first hurdles are out of the way, I think my team and I now have a better grasp on what is a program evaluation and what makes a good one. We are excited to talk more with Blanca in actually designing the questions for LSF alumni to give LSF good-quality feedback on 3 of their programs.
Finalized congratulatory and thank you emails for nonprofit organizations who won the grant and did not win the grant.
We as class got an in-depth and hands-on experience with the inner workings of what foundations do and what philanthropy is all about/how we can make it more equitable. And we got to financially support an organization that does good work in the process!
Worked on congratulatory and thank you emails/letters to nonprofits/orgs from the GW Arc Foundation.
Worked on finalizing the Request for Proposals with group mates after last round of class comments/edits. Created application procedure for orgs/nonprofits to apply for the HSSJ capstone's GW Arc Foundation grant, aka a google doc (sections for mission statement, budget, program description, community engagement, commitment to diversity and accurate reflection of beneficiaries in staff, etc.)
Edited the Request for Proposals with group mates based on second round of comments and discussion with Capstone professor and classmates.
We worked on the Request for Proposals based on our professor's and class' comments and edits.
Wrote first rough draft of a Request for Proposals with group mates.
Researched and looked at different foundations' Requests for Proposals; worked with group mates to start drafting an RFP for our capstone class
