This week, I helped my grandparents do chores, clean up their backyard, and finished cleaning the side of the house. On Thursday I helped with cleaning up their backyard and helped them throw away the rest of the trash. We finally got to finish up the backyard and clean everything up. With the side of the house, I went through containers of old stuff, threw away anything they did not want and trash. Then we put the things they wanted to keep back in the garage. I am very thankful for this class because it made us become more productive. Performing community service this week has a lot of insightful results and life lessons learned. Spending time and doing things for my grandparents allowed me to grow a stronger relationship with them. There was also the benefit of learning from their experience and wisdom. I always become happy whenever they tell me how productive they have been recently. They also look more happy because of the company and they find things to do around the house. I honestly appreciate this class so much. It has a positive impact on me and my grandparents. We are able to spend time together and build a stronger relationship. Not only this but it makes us want to be more productive and actually get things done.

This week, I helped my grandparents do chores, clean up their backyard, and helped my grandpa put up a flagpole. On Tuesday I went over to help them and basically spent half the day there. Through this day, I helped with cleaning up their backyard and putting in cement to stick up a flagpole. We never got to finish with that though so I will be going back sometime next week to finish with it. With the backyard, I helped with throwing away any junk they had and cleaning up all the furniture on the patio. With the front yard I cleaned up the yard and got any spots I missed last week. Inside the house I also helped my grandpa install a television stand and put up a new television they bought. Performing community service this week has a lot of useful results and lessons learned. Spending time with and doing things for my grandparents allowed me to grow a stronger relationship with them. I grew closer to them, and we created new memories together. There was also the benefit of learning from their experience and wisdom. We talked about our lives and the news. One thing that actually made me happy was something they told me. My grandpa said ever since I have been going over, it made them feel more productive and they started doing more things around the house. Just hearing that brought joy to me because doing this service for them is actually creating a positive impact for them.

This week, I helped my grandparents do chores around the house and clean up their yard. I know the max amount of hours per week is four but they needed a lot of help so I assisted them five hours on Tuesday and another five on Wednesday. Through these two days, I helped with cleaning up their backyard, garage, and front yard. With the backyard, I helped with mowing the yard and cleaning up all the furniture on the patio. In the garage, there are a lot of containers and boxes of old toys, clothes, and other things they use. I assisted them with going through the containers and throwing out any trash. We the old clothes we donated at our local Goodwill. So from the garage, I helped clean up and organize. In the front yard, I mowed the lawn and cut down bushes on their lawn. Performing community service this week has a lot of fruitful results and lessons learned. I was able to develop a closer bond with my grandparents by spending time with them and doing things for them. I developed a closer relationship with them and we made fresh memories. Learning from their knowledge and expertise was another benefit. We had chats about our lives and current events. I was able to learn from them and obtain important life lessons through helping them.

This week, I helped my grandparents do chores around the house and run errands. I know the max amount of hours per week is four but they needed a lot of help so I assisted them five hours on Tuesday and another five on Thursday. Through these two days, I helped with cleaning up their backyard and the garage, did laundry, recycled their cans and bottles, went grocery shopping for them, made their food, and took care of their cats. From this week's community service, there were a lot of positive outcomes and takeaways. By spending time with my grandparents and helping them out, I was able to build a stronger relationship with them. I got to know them better and create new memories together. Another positive was learning from their wisdom and experience. I haven’t seen them in a pretty long time so we got to have conversations about how we have been and things going on. Assisting them allowed me to learn from them and gain valuable insights into life. One example would be relationship advice with my significant other. My grandma and my girlfriend are best friends so she loves asking about her and how she is doing. But my grandma did give me relationship advice since we are in a long distant relationship. She goes to the University of Riverside and I am at La Verne. My grandma just told me about changes that can happen and stuff to look out for. Helping my grandparents also allowed me to develop empathy for them. As they get older, it can be challenging for them to do things like cleaning, cooking, and laundry. By helping them with these tasks, I was able to make their lives a little easier and more comfortable. It's also a way of showing my appreciation for everything they've done for me. They were also very appreciative of my services to them so that made my day knowing they are happy. In addition, I've also given my grandparents emotional support. As they age, they may experience loneliness, sadness, or anxiety. By being there for them, listening to them, and offering words of encouragement, I'm able to help them feel more loved and supported. Overall, I think helping and giving service to grandparents is a wonderful way to show our appreciation for all they've done for us. It's also an opportunity to create new memories, learn from their experience, and deepen our relationships. I feel grateful for the chance to give back to them and hope to continue doing so for many years to come.

My community service for this week was an alternative project. I had to paint five rocks and write an inspirational phrase or quote on them and give them to random people I see. For this alternative project, I spent 3.5 hours painting, finding random people, and having a conversation with some of the people I gave a rock to at a local park right behind my house. If I am being completely honest, I thought of this as an elementary school type of project without realizing the actual impact it can have on people. My initial thoughts of the project had me thinking, “Seriously, this is a college project,” without knowing how many days I would make by giving someone a painted rock. I never realized how many people need that boost. Doing this project allowed me to spread positivity to others and provide that boost and support they need. I spread out positivity to those who received the rock by doing an act of kindness. Something so simple like the inspirational quotes made their days and put smiles on their faces. Two of the people that I gave a rock to did not care and I am pretty positive they thought it was dumb, the look on their faces said it all. One interaction that stood out to me was with a woman I gave a rock. When I gave it to her she told me thank you and that she needed a boost like this. I never really thought much of this but it turned into a deep conversation. We were both walking our dogs together at the park while she was telling me things going on in her life like family issues and stress in college. I didn’t want to get into her family issues so I asked about how college is since it was something in common for both of us. This assignment honestly opened up my mind and made me feel good knowing I helped out someone and made their day. I never knew what could come out of this project when I first started on it. This experience was reciprocal by spreading positive emotions from one person to another. The interaction we had inspired the women to carry on with acts of kindness because it brought them joy.
