About

June is National Homeownership Month. In observance, the YW will host a virtual panel of experts to discuss The Journey to Affordable Housing: The YW's Role in Safe Shelter.

This virtual event, moderated by YWCA CEO Dr. LaRhonda S. Magras, features:

  • Mechelle Sippial Wilder, ARC Realty Partner, Associate Broker;
  • Kenneth E. Free, Alabama Field Office Director, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
  • YWCA Central Alabama's very own Monica Shields, Interfaith Hospitality House Shelter Manager.

There is no cost to participate in the discussion about financial literacy, negative rental or criminal history, and fair housing laws.

Our goal is to increase awareness of systems that can often debilitate residents within our communities, often leading to substandard housing conditions.

Please check your email and GivePulse notifications by June 23rd for the meeting ID and password to connect to the online platform.

Thank you for engaging with the YW!
